Aquis Marine was established by Captain Ed Rodda as a platform from which to provide Yacht Owners, Brokers and Managers with a range of services built upon his considerable experience in the yachting industry which, along with his commercial marine background, gives him an unparalleled level of knowledge and understanding of the design, construction, operation, repair and maintenance of luxury yachts.
Born and educated in New Zealand, he commenced his engineering studies there before moving to Australia where he began his sea-going career, progressing from marine engineer to fleet engineer and gaining a master's certificate along the way. Arriving in Europe he served as chief engineer on several large motor and sailing yachts before changing his role to that of Captain in the early 1990's. He has commanded a number of vessels ranging from a high-tech 25 metre sloop through to classic Feadships and has cruised extensively in the Mediterranean and Caribbean as well as the Middle East, Central America and Mexico.
Never more at home than in a shipyard he has planned and managed a number of successful major yacht refits including fire damage repairs, major machinery overhauls, and complete exterior re-painting. More recently he worked with a major yacht builder on resolving their ongoing quality and warranty issues.
His qualifications include a Master’s Certificate for Yachts up to 3000gt, a Diploma in Marine Surveying with accreditation in the International Safety Management Code and the Surveying of Superyachts, and a commercial Marine Engineer's certificate.
Ed is based close to Antibes on the French Riviera and so is ideally placed at the centre of the Luxury Yachting industry in Europe. An additional asset is his keen interest in languages - he already speaks fluent French and has a working knowledge of Italian, Spanish and even some Turkish - which gives him the ability to communicate easily whatever part of the world he finds himself in.
